LOVE this! Here's one more:

11) When we must go out somewhere, I will be sure to tell you NO when you ask me to do anything and run away from you in the stores and parking lots when you tell me to stay close to you in that gentle, "I've got such great control of my family" tone and everyone is watching.

Thanks for the laughs!

Re: This is the Reality

My husband isn't a pilot, but he works on Kiowas and occasionally flies. I don't mind when he flies "at home" but when he flies while deployed, I don't want to know about it in advance. There is obviously no way you could know exactly how you would react, but in this lifestyle I think it's important to have a plan, so when you are at the lowest moment in your life, you have something to cling to for your kids!

Re: This is the Reality

Great post! My husband is a reservist for the Navy. A Corpseman and I still have thoughts like these. My heart aches and bleeds every time I hear of any military member who is killed, and every time my brain goes right to "that could be my husband....." I just cant help myself. Some will never understand, but as a military wife, you can have these thoughts and its not morbid, its life, its reality.

Re: Oh the Hoo, or why I’m glad Poison Control doesn’t report to CPS

Bless your heart! I've only had to call PC once, when my eldest ate, I don't even know how many, TUMS when I was pregnant with my second. Scared the pee out of me. I was on the phone and walked out of the room and when I walked back in probably only 3-4 minutes later she was sitting in the middle of the floor with the bottle of TUMS (that she had gotten from my night stand) eating them.

Re: It’s been a while because I am a mess

I'm so sorry things have been rough and crazy for you...and with your hubby off on training! Its times like this that I am glad we chose a breed of dog that loves exercise and the outdoors with a couple of buddies more then 100% of my attention. That being said, I still have to feed, brush and give them some attention. LOL We must remember it can only get better as our 2.5 year olds get older, right?? They have to hit that point of going from trouble making toddler to helpful young child, right?? Right???

Re: The things you take for granted, part 1

oh, can i relate!

Re: The Fish Tank of Death

Take a sample of the water to Petsmart & have them test it. We have a 55 gallon and it takes work. Ideally the tank is supposed to be filled with water and set up, with all the water conditioners and boosters you need then let sit for 2-4 weeks empty. Yep empty, pretty silly you would think, but when you put that much tap water into a tank there is a lot of silly little things that can harm and kill your poor little fish. A few suggestions for you, first, yes dont add any more fish, not yet. Second, get a second filter unit to put behind the other light. We have 2 filter systems in our tank and it helps a TON. 3 Buy the package of water testing strips at the pet store, there are other things besides nitrate/nitrites that can harm your fish and you wont know the answer without the test. It could be the PH, you might need a PH increaser/decreaser. In the end, Dont give up, and once you have your tank water balanced out, only add a couple of fish at a time. Adding too many fish at once screws up the filters and they struggle with the newly introduced bacteria from the fish. It will all work out in the end, its all about the water. Once your tank is established ( 1-2 months) make sure its getting a good cleaning every month with about 1/4 of the water being changed out with the cleaning. The filters cannot do it all. Then add all the conditioners and salt,(weird for fresh water I know but it really does amazing things) etc needed at each cleaning. You will LOVE your tank in 6 months when its clean healthy and full of beautiful fish :)

OH yeah and just as a percaution, Angelfish are pretty and everything but they will chase and stress out the other fish, which probably assisted in your dead fish problem. They will even stress another angel fish to death. They are beautiful devil fish. :) I suggest no Angel fish for a happy tank. :)

Re: The Fish Tank of Death

Starting a new tank, especially with how big yours is, is tricky business. We have a had a couple small tanks. Nothing more than a fish at a time. Just don't have the space for it yet. I would love to have a salt water tank one day (minus the work that goes along with it hahaha) I have a hard time finding gifts for my daughter too. She is not a girly girl at all and is not into pink at all. I ended up finding her a microscope (she is 8) and she got a guitar. The 2 things she asked for this year. Last year it was a telescope. I think I have a scientist on my hands!

Re: The Happiest Break Up Ever.

Thanks! I can unfortunately relate with horror stories up and down my second pregnancy. However, my daughter is now nearly 3, so alls well that ends well. BUT we are also in the same circumstances as you (shhh) and I do get nervous with the "what ifs". Deep breaths and one step at a time, right?? I hope this next one goes easy for you!

Re: The Happiest Break Up Ever.

Thanks.
